So, who’s made their New Year’s Resolutions? We have a few plans in mind, but you’ll be pleased to hear that none of them include depriving ourselves of our favourite treats to try and lose weight.
We think that totally depriving yourself of the foods that you really enjoy or labelling foods as “good” and “bad” in order to lose weight might be the worst thing you can do.
This is because over time these restrictions might lead to cravings, binges and overeating completely sabotaging your attempts to be healthier. Plus you end up feeling guilty and useless for not sticking to the plan!
Worst case scenario – depriving yourself or restricting your eating may mean you end up disliking healthy nutritious foods because you’re associating them with not having the things you really like (assuming you are a bit naughty like us, and love to try amazing cakes and creamy hot drinks!)
So, do start that healthy diet – lots of vegetables, fruit and cooking from scratch will really start to cut out unnecessary sugar and salt and hidden fats, leaving you free to know a treat is just that – a treat. Nothing else is sneaking in and taking you off track!
On the subject of treats – why not come down to Deliciously Gorgeous and have a warming and decadent hot chocolate? Our secret Italian recipe will blow your socks off (metaphorically speaking – it’s January, you probably need to keep your socks on while our drinks are warming you up!)
