A beautiful baby shower is the perfect way to celebrate one of life’s greatest milestones and for family and friends to express their joy at your pregnancy. When a baby is on the way, the parents aren’t the only ones that get excited. Odds are that the future grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, and other loved ones will also be eager to welcome the newest member of the family. A baby shower is one of the most traditional ways in which your loved ones come together to express their joy at your pregnancy. It’s a time for friends and family to share time with the expectant parents and to “shower” them with gifts, love, and good wishes before the birth.
Baby showers for a second or even third child are becoming more common (as all babies should be celebrated). These baby showers are often referred to as a ‘baby sprinkle’.
Anyone who is close to the mum to be can throw a baby shower such as a best friend, work colleague or a neighbour.
Traditionally baby shower etiquette dictates that the mum to be, their spouse or a family member shouldn’t organise the party, to avoid the perception of asking for gifts. However, this is no longer the case and it is acceptable for close family members to host the shower – although it is still unusual for the mother to be to organise her own celebration.
