It is official we have entered the start of Winter. The nights are darker, the temperature is finally dropping and those golden and auburn shades of autumn are falling away and melting into the dark and somewhat dreary colours of winter…until we get out Christmas decorations that is!
When the winter draws in, we want comforting food – it’s just that simple. We can’t imagine coming home from a long day at work, through the rain and the cold to a lovely plate of salad. No. Plus we also feel less inclined to put as much effort into cooking because it’s dark and we just want to curl up and go to sleep.
That’s the point where you know it is time to get out your trusty slow cooker out, pop all the ingredients in first thing and then come home to a delicious smelling house and ready to eat dinner. We’ve rounded up some great slow-cooker recipes for you to try out…we even found a dessert!
Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken from Chef Savvy – This Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken takes only 10 minutes of prep time to throw everything together and is so delicious! All you have to do is mix up the sauce ingredients, chop up your garlic, ginger and green onions and throw it all in the slow cooker along with the chicken.

Black bean enchiladas seem perfect for party fare, or they’d be a good Meatless Monday dinner idea most any time of year. You can increase or decrease the heat and if you really want to, swap in some meat.
Slow Cooker Chocolate and Mint Aero Bubble Cake from Baking Queen 74 – It comes out like a tray bake cake and can be cut into portions and dished out for all to enjoy. The chocolate used can also be swapped out and changed for other chocolate such as malteasers, mars or everything.
